Central Iowa Christian School was started in 1983 by a group who answered the calling to provide Christian education in the Grinnell-Newburg community.
The school started in the old school building located in Newburg. After one year, the school temporarily relocated to a home in northeast Grinnell. A year after that, the school moved again, this time to the west edge of Grinnell onto a four-acre campus. The school remains in this location today, though has had three major additions to the original building.
The school currently offers classes in grades kindergarten through eighth grade.
