History

Central Iowa Christian School was started in 1983 by a group that answered the calling to provide Christian education in the Grinnell-Newburg community.

The school started in the old school building located in Newburg. After one year, the school temporarily relocated to a home in northeast Grinnell. A year after that, the school moved again, this time to the west edge of Grinnell onto a four-acre campus. The school remained in that location until August of 2020 when the derecho severely damaged the building. The school relocated to Grinnell Christian Church, which welcomed us with open arms.

CICS currently offers classes in grades kindergarten through eighth grade.
